Our mission is to add value to Birmingham by making the area more positive, fun, and food equitable.
Woman-owned & Black-owned, MCFT Picnics is a scavenger hunt food tour and luxury pop-up picnic company started by Yawntreshia Coleman.
After two back-to-back high risk pregnancies, heart failure, postpartum depression, and COVID-19, Coleman relaunched her food tour business with scavenger hunts and luxury picnics.
With a picnic basket of experience, Yawntreshia Coleman has become known for picnics & food tours. She has always wanted to create new, unique, memorable experiences and Magic City Food Tours and Luxury Picnics allows her to do that.
Described as creative, bubbly, innovative, compassionate, honest, and loyal, she started the scavenger hunt food tour and luxury pop-up picnic company to support local businesses during COVID and to give family members & friends a way to safely spend time together.
But entrepreneurship is just one piece of the puzzle. For over a decade, Coleman has engaged and empowered the community to bring people together with a purpose. For over a decade, Coleman has engaged and empowered the community to bring people together with a purpose.
From running for local office in 2009, advocating for smoke-free and environmental protection laws with the Lung Association in 2010-2011, graduating grassroots & political leadership programs in 2014, to pitching a City Ambassador Program in 2016, she is a deep-rooted Birmingham advocate.
In 2020, she distributed over 400 USDA produce boxes to area neighborhoods during the pandemic. She personally hand delivered half of those boxes to neighbors’ front porches.
Coleman currently serves on four local nonprofit boards ranging from respite care to sustainability to music education to hunger/poverty. Her work is what fills her soul. One of the things that makes her a passionate city ambassador is her amazing hospitality and creativity.
Coleman graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in Accounting. She lives in Birmingham, AL with her spouse, Larry, and their three daughters: Olivia, Nicole, and Hannah.
When she is not planning and setting up picnics and tours, you can find her floral arranging, taking her younger daughters to family-friendly events, and trying new recipes.
Passionate about the city she lives, Coleman’s mission is to foster enthusiasm, positive community spirit and to market the City's many attributes. In 2017-2018, Coleman committed to one year of voluntary intensive public service at Railroad Park, chaired the health & wellness initiative, Project Yummy, for the Junior League of Birmingham, AND graduated the WOW Ambassador Hospitality Program conducted by the CVB Tourism Department.
